How Watch List and Alerts Work

Grant deadlines and funding amounts change after you find an opportunity — sometimes right up until it closes. Watching a specific grant saves it to your Watch List and notifies you when something about it changes, without having to re-check manually.

Watching a grant

Click the Watch button on any grant — from a search result card (list or grid view) or the grant's detail page. The button switches to Watching once active, and stays consistent everywhere that grant appears. To stop watching, click Watching again; you'll be asked to confirm before it's removed.

What's worth watching

Watch isn't just for grants you're ready to apply to right now. It's just as useful for opportunities that aren't actionable yet:

  • Grants that haven't opened yet. Some funders post a grant listing before applications open — you can see it's coming, but there's nothing to submit yet. Watch it now, and you'll be notified the moment it opens, instead of stumbling onto it late or having to keep checking back manually.
  • Grants that are closed or otherwise inactive today but could reopen or change. Annual or recurring programs, grants between funding cycles, or opportunities whose eligibility or terms might shift — watch these to catch a status change (reopened, eligibility widened, new round announced) as soon as it happens, rather than losing track of them entirely.

In both cases, the value of Watch is the same: it lets you stake a claim on an opportunity the moment you spot it, so you get first notice when it becomes something you can actually act on — instead of relying on catching it in a future search.

Watch List replaces Saved Grants

Watch List is the new Saved Grants — the two aren't separate features. If you had grants saved before this change, they were automatically added to your Watch List, and you'll start receiving alert emails on them without having to re-save or re-watch anything. There's nothing to do on your end; the old Saved Grants menu item is now Watch List.

Where watched grants live

Watched grants collect on the Watch List page, in the left navigation (where Saved Grants used to be). The page has two tabs:

  • Grant Opportunity Alerts — everything you're currently watching, each showing the same core details as a search result (title, description, amount, geography, close date, status) plus a summary of what's changed since you started watching it.
  • Recently Viewed — grants you've opened recently, watched or not.

If you haven't watched anything yet, the page shows a prompt pointing you back to Grant Search.

Seeing what changed

Any watched grant that's changed since you started watching it shows a short summary right on its card. Open the grant's detail page for the full picture: a What's Changed section at the top shows exactly what shifted, old value to new.

What counts as a change:

  • Grant opens (moves from upcoming/not-yet-open to open for applications)
  • Deadline moved
  • Funding amount changed
  • Grant status changed (e.g., open → closed, reopened, or awarded)
  • Eligibility requirements changed
  • Application requirements or required documents changed

Getting notified

You'll get an email notification within 24 hours of a significant change on any grant you're watching — you don't have to be checking the platform for it to reach you.

Watching is available to everyone

Watch List isn't limited by plan or tier — there's no cap on how many grants you can watch, whatever your subscription level.
